Red Cross consolidation and relocation
As part of the overall strategy of the American Red Cross to deliver services more efficiently and economically, the Blue Ridge Chapter has become a branch office of the Central Virginia Chapter, headquartered in Charlottesville. The Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Chapter is part of this consolidation of functions. As a result, the local Red Cross offices have been relocated to the Augusta County Government Center in Verona, in the basement level. (See directions below.)
Jill Siegel, Community Outreach Coordinator (new title), will continue to oversee Red Cross training and disaster relief operations, and will serve as the contact person for volunteers. Any questions about these changes should be directed to her, by e-mail (jsiegel@redcrosscva.org) or phone. We will have the same telephone numbers as before: (540) 886-9151 and (800) 943-4511.
As part of the consolidation, this Web site will be discontinued in the near future. Information on our future activities and programs can be found at the Central Virginia Red Cross Web site. Please make a note of that Web site address.
Directions to our new office
Coming from Rockbridge County or the southern or eastern parts of Augusta County, take I-81 until you reach Exit 225, and then head toward Staunton on Route 262. After 1.5 miles, turn right on Route 11 at the stop light, and go for one mile until you see the sign outside the Augusta County Government Center on your right.
Coming from western Augusta County, take Route 254 or 250 until you reach the Staunton bypass, Route 262. Proceed north / east on Route 262 until you reach the stop light on Route 11. Turn left and go for one mile until you see the sign outside the Augusta County Government Center on your right.
Coming from Rockingham County or the northern part of Augusta County, take I-81 until you reach Exit 227, and then head into Verona and turn left at the stop light on Route 11. Continue for a half mile until you see the sign outside the Augusta County Government Center on your left.
Entering the front door of the building, go down the staircase, turn right, go down the hall, turn left, then turn left again at the County Attorney sign, go down that hall, do a jog to the right and then to the left, and turn right at the end. There you will see a Red Cross sign outside our office.
